Thankful Turkeys

After our divine start to the day on Sunday, with croissants and cards, we all decided to make some turkeys from construction paper for Ashley and Caitlin to play with. We traced their feet on brown paper, and their hands on a sheet each of red, orange and yellow paper. We cut out their hand- and footprints, as well as the legs, wattles and beaks. We glued the turkeys together and added the goggle eyes. Ashley and Caitlin then decided (much to James’ dismay) that their turkeys needed hair. So it was out with the embroidery floss and scissors. Then James cut out a crown for Ashley’s turkey and a pilgrim’s hat for Caitlin’s. We encouraged the girls to think of things they are grateful for and wrote them on their turkeys. James wrote Caitlin’s and Ashley was proud to write her own (once I’d written them out for her to copy). Ashley called them “Thankful Turkeys” and the girls were delighted with them.
