We had such a lovely afternoon with Eliza again. This time Ashley joined us because her school was on early release. Last month Ashley graduated to a booster seat in the car, which makes it possible to accommodate three car seats in our Accord. Ashley, Caitlin and Eliza were all so delighted to be together in the back of the car (and I was delighted that I had my camera with me to catch the moment).
A new ritual that seems to be developing with Eliza: she gets to choose the music for the drive home. Our family takes turns deciding what music we’ll listen to in the car and Caitlin was very keen that Eliza should have her turn the first time we spent the afternoon together last month. She tends to choose Jungle Gym by Jack Johnson (from the Curious George soundtrack) or Philadelphia Chickens by Sandra Boynton. Yesterday we didn’t have the CDs in the car, as they had been transferred to James car while I was away for the weekend. When we got back to the house we all danced to jungle Gym in the study. And of course the girls could not let Eliza spend the afternoon without playing some hands of Uno. By the end of the visit she was starting to get into our little habit of enthusiastically shaking hands and saying “congratulations” to the winner.
Later in the afternoon I had the pleasure of Maylynn’s company for a bit when she arrived with Oliver and Julian. I’m really pleased that we are finding more time to hang out together again. I also had some time to hold Julian (4 months old now), snuggle with him and stroke his head before it was time for everyone to go home-a satisfying baby fix
We all look forward to more afternoons with these good friends.
Ashley looks so grown up now.....meat in the backseat sandwich !
That's a lovely picture. They are clearly all so pleased to be together.
Thanks for the peek into Eliza's afternoons without me!
