Caitlin's Big Girl Status Begins

On Friday Ashley, Caitlin and I went on a little outing to buy Caitlin her first underpants. She now has plain white ones with a little pink trim at the waist and three pairs of The Little Mermaid pants. She is very pleased with herself and has worn them indoors since we bought them. She has used the toilet consistently since wearing them. The plan is she will practice at home for a while and wear a pull-up when we’re heading out anywhere. On Sunday we used the last of our stock of nappies and now we won’t buy anymore. She has shifted to pull-ups at nighttime too. She is very pleased with the new additions to her wardrobe. She is also very excited about “getting bigger” and being a “big girl”. Several times on Friday and Saturday, she lifted up her dress and, wearing a big smile on her face, looked at her pants, saying, “me have pants!”. And so she grows...Ashley is very encouraging with this new event in Caitlin's life. She has been showing Caitlin how to put on her pants and how to know which way is the right way to wear them(the tag goes at the back). She is also the sweetest little cheering section when Caitlin declares, "me need to pee", and runs to the bathroom. On her return Caitlin is greeted with a "you did it Caitlin, you're learning". Then they will smile at each other, delighted in the sharing of her achievement.
