The entire McKee clan currently residing in Seattle headed out for our pilgrimage downtown. Our last pilgrimage was probably about 2 years ago and this year we invited my friend Linda to join us at the end of our trek. Our destination: The Elephant and Castle on 5th Avenue.
Site of our evening meal the night before our wedding (7 years ago), source of Ian's Bangers and Mash and Janet's beloved potatoe skins, the Elephant and Castle has become a favorite place to have lunch at least once each time Ian and Janet visit. Factors, mostly involving children, have meant a long gap since we all dined there together. And while factors, mostly involving children, meant that it wasn't the most relaxing visit we've ever had , it was still a pleasure to share food, conversation and time with friends.
During lunch Ashley and Caitlin were greatly entertained for a while with James' storytelling skills and the girls, having received gifts of wands and headdresses from Linda, have enjoyed transforming into fairies and mermaids since we returned.
(Oh, and note to self: Friday afternoon is not a good time to try shopping with a 3 year old. Next time quit while we're ahead and go home after lunch!)
