New Shoes for Grandma and Granddad

posted Thursday, 20 December 2007

I had so much fun with Ian and Janet on their first full day here with us in Seattle. After we dropped Ashley and Caitlin off at school, the three of us headed over to Greenlake to hit the first thing on the top of their list for their visit: Walking analysis and new shoes/sneakers from Road Runner Sports. Following the blog I posted about my experience in November they were both keen to try this out for themselves.

We arrived early and while we waited for the store to open Ian treated us all to Starbucks. Sitting over my usual Tall Chai Extra Hot and the Holiday Gingerbread, I found myself completely decompressing and thoroughly enjoying a chance to have a leisurely chat with them both, uninterrupted by children.

The assistant at Road Runner Sports, Bruce, was just as great as Brian, who had helped me last month. After the walking analysis (and Janet’s first experience on a treadmill) they tried on several pairs of shoes recommended by Bruce. We spent about and a half there and came away with some new purchases for them both.

Details:
Ian bought the Mizuno Wave Inspire 3

Janet bought the Nike Air Zoom Vomero+ 2

I will try to add a photo of the happy couple wearing their new runners/sneakers.

After our successful trip to Road Runner Sports our next stop was the UDistrict where we ate lunch at a favorite spot of Ian and Janet’s: Pagliaci Pizzeria.

We had time afterwards for a little shopping and I enjoyed a few minutes of book loving at Magus Books, a secondhand bookshop just off the Ave.

Five hours of adult time with Ian and Janet felt like a whole day of leisurely fun. It was very gratifying. And this was only officially Day 1. Nine more to come Smile.
