Caitlin attended the first birthday party in which she was the invitee and Ashley tagged along. In her pre-school class Caitlin has a group of little girls she considers her "best fwends". One of these is, of course, Eliza. The two others are Audrey and Claire. Each of Caitlin's friends are amazingly generous and Caitlin is alway's bringing home little toys, hair accessories, and even a pair of gloves once, that her friends let her "borrow but not to keep". In December Audrey celebrated her 4th birthday and the party was held in the gym of their pre-school. This venue was sheer joy to Caitlin who adores playing in the gym on rainy days. We also had the opportunity to enjoy a full party experience there when Caitlin's teacher Barbara used it for the class Halloween Party last year. So there was great excitement to attend Audrey's party, both for the birthday girl and the fun in the gym. It was a wonderful party. My favorite memory (captured in the photos below) was spotting the birthday girl in a moment alone, deeply focused on the birthday cupcakes, and eventually joined by the "best fwends" who delighted in sharing what they thought was an unobserved moment. All of the action was conducted in complete silence in the spirit of pre-schoolers doing what they do best: enjoying the company of friends with the added bliss of cake.
I did eventually notify Audrey's mother in order to isolate the shared cupcakes, and stem the tide of sharing before all the other kids noticed and joined the illicit fun
But it was very entertaining to watch for a while...

Just a small fingertip full of frosting...

Mmmm...

And maybe just a wee lick...

Of course my friend Caitlin needs a finger full too...

And how perfect, Claire is here to share too.
